Touch and Go

Touch and Go

Touch and Go

I was born on grandad’s kitchen table

Liverish, sickly, skin like orange peel,

Touch and go. Saved by blood from a stranger

Freely given voluntary and vagal.

1st Bangor Scouts master on Great Gable:

“Take it from here Billy- go as you feel”,

A small outstep becomes a life changer-

Did he know how his words would enable?

Like cairns built from single stones set in place

Combined, aligned, as minders in the mist

Left by fellow travellers- acts of grace,

Passing courtesies, happy to assist.

Kind acts, wise words to guide us as we grow

The donors, the scouters- who touch and go.
